The In-Law Suite Explained
Hello! I’m Nora, living in a lovely in-law suite, right now sitting at my desk overlooking our woodsy lot where snow is now heaped on trees and ground. Our family kinship group is my daughter, son-in-law, four young girls including a set of rambunctious twins.
I’m here in Substack to give a voice to my life as a woman in her mid sixties who wears many hats each week including mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, creative maker (with a new Etsy shop) and all round house manager. Trying to keep all of these roles chugging along full steam requires vast amounts of energy, humour, time management (which works out better some days than others!), self-care and of course boundless love. To be truthful, it is sometimes lonely and I miss adult contact outside of my family, so I thought, well, why not put pen to paper, gather my thoughts and send off a post each week to the wider world. Maybe there are others like me, who can relate to my life and will enjoy reading my missives!
I hope to build a community with others who live with family or who hope to one day in the future. I intend to share the ups and downs, laughs and cries, chaos and noise, creativity, sport and love that encompass our household. Never a dull day!
I will be posting weekly on each Tuesday - free subscribers will receive them all! Plus I will be including thoughts and ideas about my textile / sewing work and what inspires me to sew/stitch, make stuff!
